What Do We Believe?
You many be wondering what the word "Apostolic" means. "Apostolic" literally means "like the apostles." At First Apostolic Church we pattern our church after the early church as recorded in the bible in the book of Acts. One can find no better example of how a church should be than to look at the one established by Jesus Christ and his apostles.
We are building our church "upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone." (Ephesians 2:20) We teach, preach and practice the doctrine of the New Testament church as recorded in the bible.
The gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, baptism by immersion in the Name of Jesus Christ, anointed worship, powerful old fashioned prayer, supernatural healings, miracles, and wonders did not come to and end when the apostles of Christ died. These things are still available today to any believer.
We DO NOT believe in the trinity.
We believe in one true ever-living God, holy in attributes and purpose, and infinite in power. This One true God has revealed Himself as Father in creation, in the flesh as Son in redemption, and in the Holy Ghost, which was poured out to his church in Acts chapter two. Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God (Col 1:15-19). "For in him dwelleth the fullness of the godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him..."(Col 2:9-10).
We believe that the scriptural Bible standard of full salvation.
...repentance of sins, baptism in water, by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance (John 3:5, Acts 2:4,38). We believe in living a holy life unto the Lord. We must be holy because God is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16). Simply stated, holiness means thinking as God thinks, loving what he loves, hating what He hates, and acting as Christ would act; which involves separation from sin and worldliness, and dedication to God and His will.
